This is the homepage of the 37th Students' Conference on Linguistics (StuTS). It takes place from May 4 to May 8, 2005 in Saarbrücken in south-west Germany. We invite everyone to register for conference, and maybe have your own talk
or workshop ("AG") about some linguistic topic. However, if you do not speak German, you should be be aware of the following facts.
Language
Depending on the speakers, some talks will be presented in English, others in German.
Please refer to the Overview Page for more information.
You can also have a lot of conversations in English at the
conference, as there are usually many participants who
understand English (after all, it's a linguists' meeting!).
However, please be aware that the main language of the
conference is German. It is highly recommended to
understand German at least to a certain extent,
otherwise you will probably miss important announcements,
interesting talks and a lot of fun.
Own Talk
If you plan to
give your own talk, you may present it in
English, of course. Remember to submit your abstract at
least one week before the conference so that we can include it
in the conference booklet. Also tell us if you need any
special equipment (like projector, beamer).
Economy Class
Please note that the StuTS is mainly a meeting for students organized by students.
The "bed & breakfast" included in the conference fee is
very basic due to our limited financial resources.
More precisely, you will be accommodated at other students' homes,
and you have to bring a mattress and a sleeping bag with you.
We will organize a simple breakfast at the university,
for which you need your own (plastic) dishes.
